Where is the Costa del Sol?The Costa del Sol is situated on the southern coastal region of Spain in the province of Malaga and extends 150 kilometres east from Nerja to the far west at Sotegrande. The main airport at Malaga is only 2.5 hours flight from the United Kingdom making the Costa del Sol one of Spain’s most popular tourist destinations. Virtually all of the beaches along the Costa del Sol are European Blue Flag rated which are recognized as having high environmental, sanitary and safety standards. The area offers a wealth of activities to suit all ages from skiing in Granada to water sports, golfing, aqua parks, sea fishing, yachting, Safari park and many more. The Costa del Sol also boasts over 50 world class golf courses. Each course offering different challenges to suit both the novice golfer and the expert. There many towns in the province of Malaga which enter the group of the prettiest in Spain like the white washed villages of Frigliana and Mijas. A popular destination is Fuengirola, which is just 15 minutes from Malaga airport. Fuengirola literally has everything to offer. Fantastic beaches, abundance of bars and restaurants and a great nightlife that the whole family can enjoy. The climate: The Costa del Sol boasts over 300 days of sunshine a year and is famous for its sunny hot Summers and extremely mild Winters. The region's sunny climate is due its geographical position and the range of the Andalucian mountains, set back but parallel to the coast, which protects the area from bad weather making it an ideal destination for holiday makers throughout the summer and winter months. Malaga airport is less than 2.5 hrs flight time from the UK and with the low cost airlines flying in very frequently, the Costa del Sol also makes the perfect frequent “get-away from it all” destination too!
