Video of El Caminito del Rey (The kings walkway), El Chorro

El Caminito del Rey was completed in 1905. The walkway was built to join two falls (Chorro Falls and Gaitanejo) primarily for the workers working on these falls. The video (courtesy of Brightcove.tv) shows magnificent scenery.
1921 saw an inauguration of the Dam (Conde del Guadalhorce) where king Alfonso XIII crossed the walkway. Since then it was called "The Kings Walkway".
The walkway has gone into disrepair for many years and is now in a highly perilous condition. Just 1 metre (3 feet) wide and 200 metres (700 feet) above the river. Most of the path has no handrails. Although the local government closed the entrances it has not deterred adventurous tourists to explore it.
